I love making panorama images. Panoramic photography is one of the best ways to see and show the places that we are particularly impressed with from a wide angle. Panoramic photography is a technique of photography, using specialized equipment or software, that captures images with horizontally elongated fields of view.
“Karahantepe” - Panoramic view from the peak of Karahantepe which is a Neolithic archaeological site in Şanlıurfa Province in Turkey. The site is close to Göbeklitepe. Archaeologists have also uncovered T-shaped stelae there and believe that the sites are related. The site may be the earliest known human village, predating the construction of Göbeklitepe, dating to between 9,000-11,000 BCE. The large stones seen in the photograph are some of the tips of hundreds of pillars buried in the ground waiting to be unearthed. I imagine the vast uninhabited landscape is similar to what the hunter-gatherers of 13,000 years ago must have experienced.
“Göbeklitepe” - My take on this important archaeological site. Göbeklitepe is a Neolithic archaeological site in Turkey. Inhabited from c. 9500 to 8000 BCE, it is also referred to as "ground zero of history" in some popular sources. It is famous for its large circular structures that contain massive stone pillars, the world's oldest known megaliths. Most of these pillars are decorated with sculptural reliefs of humans, animals and abstract symbols providing archaeologists rare insights into prehistoric iconography. The findings reveal that hunter-gatherer communities must have had a highly developed and versatile social structure, and that there was some kind of understanding and pursuit of art.
"Quiet Canvas” - In the calm and quiet embrace of winter, a dusting of snow blankets the rocky ground and dry trees softening the harsh texture of nature's tapestry.
“I Dream of Purple” - I used my artistic license for the grand panoramic view of the Black Sea mountains.
"Sea of Clouds" - The Black Sea region mountains of Turkey reveal breathtaking panoramic views such as this sea of clouds covering valleys.
“Rise Above” - The Black Sea mountains offer a majestic setting for the pine tree towering above the rest.
"Pillars of Knidos" - I would have loved to travel back in time 2,000 years and see the ancient Carian city of Knidos situated on the Datça peninsula in its heyday.
"Silent Meeting" - While flying in my paramotor along the Marmara coast of Istanbul I met with this panorama of ships patiently waiting to enter the Bosphorus in front of the Princes' Islands on a cloudy late winter afternoon.
"Ruins of Olympos" - Ruins of the ancient Lycian city of Olympos… The dead tree fits the story perfectly.
"Iztuzu Beach" - Iztuzu beach, a nature protection area, is famous as a nesting place for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta).
"Flatbread Oven" - Historical flat bread restaurant inside an old inn in Eminonu, Istanbul. I love the kitsch nature of the decoration.
"Galata Panorama" - Galata Tower, built in 1348 by the Genoese as part of their fortifications. It was used as a watchtower by the Ottomans in Beyoglu, Istanbul, Turkey.
"Old Istanbul" - Golden Horn and old Istanbul from the Galata Tower.
"A Summer Day in Faralya" - Idyllic setting in Faralya, near Fethiye and Oludeniz.
"Kalamis"- I just had to shoot this panoramic photo while flying towards well populated Fenerbahçe, Kalamış and Moda on the Asian side of Istanbul.
"Once There Was Theater" - What a theater setting in Knidos, Greek city of ancient Caria and part of the Dorian Hexapolis, in Datça peninsula, south-western Turkey!
"Mount Erciyes" - Mount Erciyes as seen from the Ottoman ski run.
